I need to do a project on global issues, and my teacher said sex selective abortions in India is acceptable. They cause there to be a higher number of boys than girls. Why is this bad?

The point of the existence of the carbon based life form is to grow up and find a mate. If they can’t find a mate, no matter how successful a person may be, they will be unsatisfied in life and that tends to lead people to hopelessness, acting out, drug/alcohol abuse, depression and other forms of mental illness, etc. etc. etc.
Exploding populations lead to poverty, crime, substance abuse, and acting out… It just takes place on a much more wide spread scale and FAR more people are harmed in the chaos.
If the choice needs to be between some discontented males or widespread chaos, poverty, and crime, the choice should always be some discontented males.
Nothing is really stopping these guys from leaving the country in order to find a mate. MANY people in India of the “Untouchable Class” have fled to Europe, The US, Canada, etc. were we don’t give a damn about their family of origin’s social standing… This tends to be women though, only causing even fewer chicks for the discontented males to bang.
There are a number of reasons why people sex-select for boys over girls and these range from the ability to inherit property/family name to basic discrimination against women to the fact that while 1 male can impregnate an unlimited number of females, a female can only have 1 child at a time… So in terms of population reduction, you MUST lower the number of women.
The major reason why I see Gender-Selection as bad, well, not “Bad” but “Unnecessary” is that long term contraception is cheap and plentiful.
An example of a country where this has allowed the female population to take control of their culture is in Rwanda, Africa. Even though they suffered great loss in population due to violence, the women don’t want to be bread like animals so they got together and opened up “Planned Parenthood” style clinics where women can take Control of their reproduction. In Africa, the males have a HUGE problem with using condoms and will often times beat a woman just for asking him to put one on so these clinics don’t focus on “Abortion” but on “Long Term Contraception”. They give out more of the 3-Month Birth Control Shots than anywhere else in the world. Their husbands/boyfriend/clients have no idea that they CAN’T get pregnant so while the STD/HIV rates are still sky high, the birth rates are being brought under control.
The downside to this is that only the smart women are not breeding. The stupid ones are still rutting like animals and increasing the population not just of people, but of STUPID people.
