(Another non-profit micro-documentary by Clayton Redfield) What is Project VOX? Project VOX, (the Latin word for voice), is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our goal is to give a greater voice to people who are alcoholic or drug addicted. By sharing personal recovery stories (without mentioning membership in AA, Al-Anon or other anonymous 12-step programs), VOX members strive to: Give hope to those in need of recovery Erase the stigma and end discrimination surrounding alcoholism and addiction Show the public the “faces of recovery” Request public resources equal to those of other chronic illnesses Members of VOX volunteer their time to help promote public understanding about alcoholism and drug dependence as preventable and treatable diseases. In 1999, a 3-year federal grant from the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, (CSAT), was awarded to NCADD Michigan to develop and implement Project VOX chapters throughout the state. Currently, there are 13 VOX chapters in Michigan
