Substance Abuse Services: What Publishers Take Books About Life on Substance Abuse?
Question by Alicia A: what publishers take books about life on substance abuse?
Hello,
I was wondering what publishers take or are interested in stories about substance abuse? I looked at ellen hopkins publishers website but I cannot find any information on their publishing services, any publisher that accepts this type of book would be great.
Thank you

It doesn’t really work like that. You need to figure out who would be most likely to read your book – teens or adults – and then decide which genre it fits into. Substance abuse is a bit too specific to be a genre.
If you can’t find information on how to submit a manuscript to a specific publisher, that probably means that publisher doesn’t accept them directly from authors. If you want to send work to that publisher, you need to get a literary agent, who will submit it for you. Most of the publishers you’ve heard of are like this now. So you need to find some agents who represent your genre and your likely readers.
Is It Possible to Not Have a Separate Mental Health Diagnosis?
Question by Scott: Is it possible to not have a separate mental health diagnosis?
…Is it possible to not have a separate mental health diagnosis – when one has experienced sexual abuse as a child and serious substance use issues as an adult? Isn’t it certain that the individual would have a separate mental health issue (not just a diagnosis of substance induced mood disorder, ect.)? NOTE: This question is not about me. Please, serious, informed answers only. Thanks everyone.

Substance Abuse Treatment Program: Is AA a Destructive Cult?
Question by Jack: Is AA a destructive cult?

Kidding–right?
AA is a ‘spiritual’ program. It’s how you look at YOUR Higher Power. The name God is not mentioned unless the AA member talking, DOES believe in God. AA members talk– and that’s all–and BELIEVE ME! You can find out why you do or did some of the things you do, from talking and listening to others.
In MY instance, I went to Al-Anon, which is friends and family of alchoholics. It teaches you that YOU are not the reason for the alchoholic’s problem. It comes also, from talking and listening. It was one the best things I ever did to get back my self esteem.
My dad and my ‘ex’ were both drinkers.
AA is NOT a cult. It is one of the best things you can do for yourself AND your friends and family.
