Well my sister has changed A LOT! and not for the best! she drinks everyday (alcohol). and she just isnt the same she cusses a lot now and everything and i barley talk to her at all anymore because i hate when she drinks! she got drunk very badly at my cousins baby shower and she was nice to everyone but completely ignored me and i havent talked to her since ! well she is 24 and i am 17 should i speak up and try and get her help or just mind my own business and watch her kill her liver =[. it really hurts me i used to look up to her so much and now its like i am the adult here and i am trying to get her to stop but i dont want to say anything if its not my place. =[ does that make sense? =[

I have to prepare a questionnaire on prevalence of substance abuse. If I ask directly ‘Do you abuse substance?’ then most people will answer no. So how can I ask the same thing indirectly? Thanks.

Of course most users will deny being substance ‘abusers’ – that’s just part of the whole denial game that goes on with people who drink or use drugs. They don’t want to admit to themselves that they are addicted. Also, the notion of ‘substance abuse’ is subjective. Some people consider drinking a 6-pack of beer abuse, while others would say 12 beers a day is abuse. I suggest that you collect data in this manner and then draw your conclusions:

I’m not a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), but they do need to get extensive clinical experience with an actual patient caseload (and passing a certification exam) before possibly getting a job as a CAC.
