Underage drinking in Oklahoma costs taxpayers just under a billion dollars a year. That’s the price tag for medical care, lost work and a host of other problems that stem from alcohol abuse by young people. the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is one year into a new effort aimed at prevention of alcohol abuse by people under 21, and they believe it’s starting to work.
