I’m 18 and Would Like to Purchase a Handgun. How Do I Go About Doing This in Alaska?
Question by username: I’m 18 and would like to purchase a handgun. How do I go about doing this in Alaska?
I’m mainly purchasing it for protection because I got robbed at gun point a couple months ago. Ok so if I’m 18 and a friend of mine is 21, can he purchase the pistol from the store, and then sell it to me? I think the law is 21, but I heard something about that only applying to registered dealers or something. I have never been arrested, and my buddy who would purchase the pistol actually works at the sport and goods department in this grocery store and handles the sales of guns. thanks

ok so it says this:
Handguns
* Permit to purchase handgun? No
* Registration of handguns? No
* Licensing of owners of handguns? No
* Permit to carry handguns? No*
* It is unlawful to sell or transfer a firearm capable of being concealed on one’s person to anyone who has been convicted of a felony or adjudicated a delinquent minor for conduct that would constitute a felony if committed by an adult. It is an affirmative defense that 10 years or more has elapsed since the unconditional discharge on the prior offense.
* It is unlawful to knowingly sell or transfer a firearm to a person whose physical or mental condition is substantially impaired as a result of an intoxicating liquor or drug, or to sell a firearm to a person less than 18.
“david” This is a gift from a friend that is 21. there’s no law keeping him from giving me the gun as a gift. “straw purchase” there’s no way to prove that. hey it’s Christmas and is the time for gift exchanges.

Why don’t you go look up your state statutes? In the time it took you to write this you could have answered your own question.
I’d do it for you but I’m far too busy.

NCOA Publishes Reverse Mortgage Info
The Administration on Aging and The Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration issued a brief on Alcohol Misuse and Abuse Prevention. Community surveys have estimated the prevalence of problem drinking among older adults from 1 percent to 16 percent, depending on the definitions of older adults, at-risk and problem drinking, and alcohol abuse/dependence. Estimates of alcohol problems are the highest among people seeking health care because individuals with drinking problems are more likely to seek medical care. Fourteen percent of men and 3 percent of women older than age 65 engage in binge drinking. Misuse and abuse of alcohol in older adults present unique challenges for recognizing the problem and determining the most appropriate treatment interventions. Alcohol use problems in this age group often go unrecognized and, if they are recognized, are generally undertreated. Standard diagnostic criteria for abuse or dependence are difficult to apply to older adults, leading to under-identification of the problem. Older adults who are experiencing substance misuse and abuse are a growing and vulnerable population. For adults ages 60 and older the recommended limits of alcohol consumption are: Men: No more than 7 drinks/week, or 1 standard drink/day; Women: No more than 7 drinks/week, or 1 standard drink/day; Binge drinking: Men: No more than 3 standard drinks on a drinking occasion; Women: No more than 2 standard drinks on a drinking occasion. Older individuals …
