I Have a Workman’s Comp Claim…don’t I Have a Choice to Get a Second Opinion?

Question by Capricassy: I have a workman’s comp claim…don’t I have a choice to get a second opinion?
I am feeling a lot of heat from the lady that takes care of my workmans comp claim at my job. She is a bitch. I went to the chiropractor which I was told I have a right to go too and she got all uptight about it. My injury is not healing so i missed my second day of work. She called my phone and left a nasty message. I did everything I was supposed to when following the policy of calling in.

I have never filed a workmans comp. I know it does allow for chiropractor visits. Please do not get on here and say that chiropractors do not work. Because my job’s workmans comp doctor was a DO (a chiropractor)…imagine that!

Basically she told me not to go to a doctor and that they would be setting up the appointment with the same doctor who I thought was a quack. I want to see my own doctor…can i do that?
I have a thoracic tear, subluxation of my spine and horrible muscle spasms. I’m sure it will heal (never had this before) but i can’t go lifting people (I work as a nurse) until i’m ok. Also, I hurt myself because somebody didn’t want to work and do they’re part so i had to compensate for it and I hurt myself.
I meant to write DC not DO.

Ok if you filed a workmans comp then say something about it instead of being a smart ass.
EDIT: Thanks backbrker….yeah its probably nothing but I deserve to be treated right as I am a hardworker. I can see how people wronged the system and made it hard for us. I refuse to take anything above an ultram.

What sucks is I have another injury that was misdiagnosed…so when it was diagnosed properly it went as a pre-exsisting condition. (not my back)

The lady that takes care of my claim has been very rude. Today I snapped and let her have it. I told her she will not disrepect me….and I will see my own doctor. I told her if she refuses to help me one more time or degrades me I will sue the s h i t out of her. (i was really mad and at the end of my ropes) My sister was sitting by me and she said I actually did good standing up for myself. ( i have a problem of trying to make everybody happy)…

Hopefully it won’t go to a lawyer…but i’ll be ready…ugh.

A DO is not a chiropractor. He/she is a physician with as much ed. as an MD. You are a nurse and don’t know that??? Check with WebMD for legit info.

If you type workmans comp in the blank above, you will find much info, or google the term. Also, there may be differences between states, so go to workmans comp for your state.
