I went ahead and googled that for you and here are the results for the education requirements for various jobs:
“Education: Master Degree in Psychology or Social Work. Licensure Requirement: License-eligible as an LCDC, LPC, LMSW or LPA in the State of Texas.”
“Graduated from an accredited college or university with a minimum B.A. degree, preferably in human services or C.A.A.P. (Certified Associate Addiction Professional Licensure).”
“Required Education:2 Year Degree plus 1 year of experience”
“Education:
Counselor training required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.”
“Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences or a directly related field AND two (2) years experience in counseling/social services or criminal justice work;”
“Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service or related field and/or a minimum four years’ related experience or its equivalent in education and experience;”
So it looks like not really. The only job that said 2 year degree in the description actually wanted a 4 year degree. They all want certification as well. So buckle up and get your B.S.
