Question by kieshyiah: Vicodin vs Codeine vs Percocet ..?
Which is more addictive? My friend was on Vicodin and was afraid he would get addicted, so the doctor switched him to Codeine. I always thought Codeine was more addictive? Would Percocet be a good alternative that would take care of the pain (Shoulder Impingement Syndrome) without the addiction and withdrawals? Any help would be appreciated?
I just found out its not ‘Codeine’ its Tylenol 3 with Codeine. Just to amend that.

Vicodin is hydrocodone and is a schedule 3 narcotic…it is addictive but always has a NSAIS in it like APAP, ibprofen or another over the counter pain drug, that is used to make sure people don’t abuse it (take 5 instead of one) but some still do..percocet is oxycodone a schedule 2 narcotic with APAP (acetaminophen) aka tylenol, Codeine is the base drug that they above two are used to manufacture….it is in the smae class schedule as oxycodone andthe schedules are used toi classify potential dangers of abuse…    Read more...

Question by Ryan: How come after re-dosing, amphetamines lose the euphoric effect?
So lets say some one takes some adderal and feel really good, after a few hours the euphoria fades so you take more. But the second dose really does not stimulate the mind, causing euphoria, only the body.

The euphoria comes from the release of dopamine in the brain which binds to dopaminergic receptors causing the feeling of euphoria. However as more dopamine is released into the brain the dopaminergic receptors begin to be either binded already or gain resistance to the dopamine and the resulting pathway is not activated. This means that even if you take larger doses of dopamine (adderall) you won’t feel its effects as greatly because the brain requires time to decrease the tolerance levels of the receptors for the effects to be felt.    Read more...

I have been using nasal spray since I was 5. I am now 22. I was wondering what the long term effects could end up being. I have read all kinds answers regarding quitting, but what’s the use of quitting if the only effects I can find is that I will just have to use it forever? You know what I mean?

Your parents should be beaten publicly if they put you on nose spray like that at such a young age.

The difficulties of getting off nose sprays after years of use are many and unpleasant. But you NEED to do it. I had a problem for almost a year and I will NEVER touch the stuff again, no matter how bad my nose gets stuffed-up. I got hooked fast and it was hell getting off the stuff.    Read more...
