Opium isn’t a plant itself, but it is found in a plant (Poppy Seeds, specifically). You can find info about it at http://www.drugs.com/opium.html where it lists most of the things you’re looking for (including heroin addiction), but it sounds like you may need to do your own research for your project (I would hope a school project, at least). That site specifically points out that “Heroin is an illegal, highly addictive drug and… It is both the most abused and the most rapidly acting of the opiates.” Good luck and I hope I helped!
