Leaky Gut/Autism and Dairy/Wheat?
Question by Brown: Leaky Gut/Autism and Dairy/Wheat?
Hello, I have recently found out about the (supposed) effects of casein and gluten on autistic children and I had a few questions regarding this. Any help would be greatly appreciated and swiftly rewarded with the best answer. 😛
There is apparently some tie between leaky gut and the opiate effects associated with gluten and casein. Are people that DON’T HAVE leaky gut syndrome effected by the opiates? If so, how? I can’t find a clear cut answer. Do regular, everyday people feel the effects of these opiates or is it only people with leaky gut? How much wheat or dairy would I need to ingest to feel these effects? What are the effects of casein/gluten?
Please, I would love some clear, understandable answers, thanks.

While I don’t have alot of information on what you are talking about ( though I had Pediatricians that told everyone that all of their children were allergic to Dairy and Wheat), I can tell you that there are points in this that are impossible.
Please learn what Opiate means and immediately escape anyone that is telling you Wheat and Dairy have “Opiates” in them or turn to “Opiates” for anyone. Although someone can claim an “Opiate effect” from items that do not contain Opium, this is not at all a term that a Medical Doctor would use ( that is in their right mind). A doctor that states this wreck should be reported and immediately abandoned.

I also recently tried some Gluten Free products recently. I do not know how all of them are since I have only had a couple. The ones I had were much too rough. They were made by well acknowledge, awarded, and popular brands. When you are Autistic you usually have senses that are higher then others and you have trouble having take over. Many people with Autism are more touch sensitive then other people. The Gluten Free products I had were intolerable to my sense of touch, I could not finish a cookie. I would like to find out if more products are like this because since communication is difficult, it be good if I can warn people of this. Try to test how things feel. If someone is Autistic they can become OCD about what sensations they prefer or which comfort them, so food may need to lean towards certain tolerable sensations.

Yes, an allergen can cause swelling of anything it comes in contact with. An “Opiate Effect” is one of great pleasure ( and addiction). Allergens and things humans have high sensitivity to can be addictive but for something absorbed early on.. not from an after effect. Humans are addicted to Sunlight and Vitamin D ( most of them), for example, so some people tan themselves to the point they have cancer. People also Over Consume and Over Produce ( too much sun exposure) Vitamin D.. many times as many people do that then the number of people who do not get enough Vitamin D (20 minutes of sunlight a day produces your daily recommendation of Vitamin D).
Anyways, there is no Opium/Opiates in Diary or Wheat. But, yes, everything to be in contact with an Allergen can swell up and your body can overreact to it. It is possible to be addicted to allergens, but this usually is felt immediately/early so that you will continue consuming it before you have finished digesting it.
If you are having problems with allergens, the first thing you should try to rule out is Food Dyes or Food Coloring. These are not magic like people seem to think, you don’t go poof and they appear. The coloring/dye is derived from foods such as fruits and vegetables and some times some other things. If you are allergic to any plants, fruits, or veggies, then it’s easy to have problems with food dyes/coloring. In children one of the commonly observed side effects is hyperactivity ( your body may be trying to pump it out of you any which way quickly, some dyes go straight to my skin that make me hyper). [Children can become hyper and have poor judgement, they also can have less control over their behavior.] I know a common Food Dye that people are addicted to as their allergic reaction is Caramel, which is found in things like Coke and Pepsi. Diet Caffeine Free may not taste great, but people still down the “sugar water” regularly because of the Caramel coloring still present.
