Can Broadcasters No Longer Use the Word “heroine” on the Air?

Question by Smart Mark: Can broadcasters no longer use the word “heroine” on the air?
I have heard it abbreviated “H” on two shows now: The Adam Carolla show and the Classic Metal show. Both shows take language as far as they can on the air but have started abbreviating that word. Why would they have to do that?

Heroin or, heroine there is a big difference. Everyone knows heroin is the big H. Heroine on the other hand is the feminine verson of hero.
