Addiction to Painkillers: Need Advice About Painkiller Addiction.?
Question by KATTIN: Need advice about painkiller addiction.?
Is there anyway I can stop taking them myself without having to go to some kind of rehab? I’ve been addicted for about 4 years , no one knows this , not even my fiance family or friends. Truthfully I enjoy taking them ( although I really have no pain anywhere.) They have become part of my daily routine . I feel like I can cope with anything as long as I have them , Yet, I feel I can handle nothing without them. I spend almost all of my weekly paycheck on them. Please someone tell me that there is hope for someone as pathetic as myself. I’m afraid if I dont try to stop on my on that I will end up going to rehab. I dont want to do that because honestly I couldn’t deal with the humilation and embarrasment from my family and friends not to mention the possibility of losing my job!

While going to rehab is probably the best way of dealing with this there are other options. It might be a good idea to start by opening up to at least one friend or family member, you shouldn’t be trying to face this alone and support will help you. After this or if you can’t even handle this then you should consider seeing a counselor, preferably one experienced in handling this issues. This would be an alternative to rehab that meant other people didn’t have to know you have a problem if you really don’t want to tell them.
