Chances are they already know that something is going on. You don’t get to where you are right now with arousing suspicion.

Get all 3 of them together and be honest. You could start off by saying, “I need to talk to you. I have a huge problem. I’ve been gambling, it’s out of control, I’m in trouble and I need help. I’m sorry but I have been lying to you to cover up the gambling addiction.” I don’t think they will understand it either. At least not like another gambler, addict or alcoholic would.

Most of the time, parents will be glad that you came clean to them and they’ll be supportive. Like I said, they probably know something is wrong.

Here’s the bad news…if you’re looking to get out of this situation and think you can do some controlled gambling in the future, you’re wrong. You think it’s bad now? It can get so much worse. If you’re thinking you’re not that bad, add the word “yet” after it. It can only get worse. It’s not going to be easy to stop, but it will get a lot harder the longer you gamble.

Sorry to be preachy at the end there but I’m just being honest. We don’t just lie to our family, we lie to ourselves too. Best of luck to you.
