For goodness sake people, I asked a question earlier for GOOD NEWS Stories about and from AFGHANISTAN or Iraq.
I’m getting answers like.. oh the media won’t report such stories .. it’s not in thier best interests..balh blah blah
CAN YOU REALLY BE TELLING ME YOU… AND YOU.. oh YES AND YOU.. can’t tell or find a GOOD NEWS STORY ABOUT/FROM AFGHANISTAN to balance Hearts and Minds?
I am SO ASHAMED OF Joe/Jane Public right now and I make NO apology for that !
All I asked for is a link to a good news story about/from AFGHANISTAN or Iraq.. a personal story of someone you knwo who is helping on the reconstruction side of things.. YOU yourself organising an event to raise funds.. or to send phonecards out to the troops so they can keep in touch with loved ones… ANYTHING…
DO NOT ALLOW THE MEDIA TO CONSTANTLY BOMBARD US WITH PESSIMISM 24/7 WHEN DEEP DOWN WE KNOW THERE ARE SOME GOOD THINGS HAPPENING THERE… C’mon people… for goodness sake help turn things around here..
Tell me, why will the BIG HEADLINES and the dramatic story and pictures on the front page of any newspaper, or Headline tv story with video footage of dead bodies… to quote you “most impact your daily life”?
Why can’t such cynical and dramtic headline be counter-balanced with a GOOD NEWS story form the same area?
Could it be because it’s from a foreign country and therefore not much to do with our own local issues that WILL “most impact your daily life”?
I appreciate you reporting career, and I’m sure for every cyncial, dramatic foreign story published to feed your editors reason to justify his vast salary, you have had a hundred “feel good” stories you COULD have published but didn’t get beyond the editor.. or the Publisher?
