Drug Addition: Action for Children Zambia’s Mama Carol on CBS WCCO TV
AFCZ, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing the needs of vulnerable and displaced children in Zambia and children who need help. More information can be found at www.AFCZambia.org This story aired on Channel 4 Friday, April 15th, the day after a reception was held in Minneapolis to recognize Mama Carol’s work. AFCZ is a registered organization (ORS/102/35/3017) under Section 7 of the Societies Act of the Republic of Zambia. The primary aim of AFCZ is to provide a multi-faceted approach to combating HIV/AIDS, literacy, child abuse, child drug through drug treatment and homelessness among displaced youth, through the effective use of our In Loco Parenti approach. AFCZ’s programs for children in need, orphans, vulnerable, and displaced youth are geared to identify and address the immediate needs for each youth in crisis. AFCZ defines a crisis situation as a situation which requires immediate assistance yet, due to a child’s circumstances, remains unaddressed. Such a situation can be in the form of drug addition, illness, malnutrition, psychosocial trauma, or abandonment. Without addressing a child’s crisis situation, one cannot effectively address the child’s infection or vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. More information can be found at www.AFCZambia.org
